THE Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association is gearing up for its finals this weekend, according to an official.
Association president Ian Soweni said its competition would host its corporate slow-pitch semifinals at the Bisini Diamonds tomorrow.
“We will proceed with the finals starting this weekend,” he said.
“Our grand final will be staged on July 16.”
The top-eight teams from Pools A and B have secured a spot in the knockouts following last weekend’s round-eleven games.
The Cup playoffs will see Swire Shipping Vikings face Trukai Industries Limited and Cardno Lions will challenge Casa PNG.
Nasfund Two will play Avis Cruisers and National Airports Corporation Jets will face Brian Bell in the Plate finals.
In Bowl matches, Water PNG will meet National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and Nambawan Super will compete against PNG Power Sparkies.
The teams playing in the Shield playoffs are Express Freight Management (EFM) versus Nasfund One and Blue Kumuls will battle ABT Associates.
The losers will bow out while the winners will advance to the grand finals next weekend.
“With just two pools, we have decided to pit Pool-A teams against play Pool-B sides in knockouts this weekend,” Soweni said.
