Sombore oil scam

Letters

THE Sombore oil discovered in Kabwum, Morobe, was tested and found to be crude.
Samples were sent for testing at the PNG University of Technology.
The traditional landowners of Sombore, from the Satwag area of Komba LLG, had engaged a consultant for the proposed oil and gas project.
The landowners made the right decision to register their land and get their ILG certificates.
However, there is uncertainty over this proposed project. The landowners should seek advice from the provincial government and allow government to carry out feasibility studies.
This project has now given rise to many subgroups, whose leaders are pressuring their members to contribute money and food, and encouraging them to open bank accounts. Many have contributed money. The people running this scam are from areas quite far from the proposed project area.
The Kabwum MP and the Morobe provincial government need to intervene, otherwise it will be another money scam similar to the unrealistic papa lain scam in Wau and Bulolo before the Harmony mine project opened.
People should stay away from the group. It’s a scam.
How can you invest and get dividends when there is no real project going on at the moment?
