THE Ipatas Cup Southern Challenge is deferred to next week.
Ipatas Cup CEO Timothy Lepa confirmed this yesterday.
Lepa said from Lae that all the Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup Board will be in Mount Hagen to officiate at the Western Highlands Challenge which kicks off today.
He said the delay will also allow the appeal by Waigani Ira Lais to be deliberated on by the National Judiciary Committee headed by Police Commander Joseph Tondop.
This will decide whether the Ira Lais play White Haven Lagaip Brothers in the semi-final.
Lepa said if they failed to pay the K3,000 fee today, then the CCIC board will look for a losing team with highest points to take the field on Sunday against Lagaip Brothers.
The Ira Lais have protested this decision and have written to the National JC to relax the hefty of K3,000 fine as it was harsh and uncalled for.
The other match will be between Six-Mile Storms and Dep Eels with the venue yet to be confirmed.
