Space issue in schools

SCHOOLS in Morobe’s Menyamya are experiencing problems with limited classrooms and space to accommodate boarding students due to an increase in number of students, says an official.
District education manager Ron Tanakai expressed that free education had enabled everyone to be in school.
“Schools are overcrowded because people who were out of the education system many years ago are also seeking education and we can’t turn them away,” he said.
“People have taken advantage of the ‘education for all and zero dropouts’ policy to enrol in numbers in schools.
“If only we go by enrolment figures to enrol students, then, there won’t be any headaches, but right now, we are trying to address the issue.”
The district has 105 elementary schools, 33 primary schools, one secondary school, one high school and a vocational school.
