St Charles Lwanga wins Central, NCD debate challenge title

THE hard work put in to prepare for the Em Stret school debate challenge has been worth it for Barbra Waugla and her Saint Charles Lwanga Secondary School team.
They won the debate contest with 970 points to beat Kopkop College on 915 points.
The six-day debate competition involved schools in Central and the National Capital District. They were competing for a spot in the national championship.
“The feeling that we won the Em Stret challenge is overwhelming, and I’m so thankful to our teachers, my friends who spent nights with me to research the topics, and everyone who made it possible,” Waugla said.
In third place is Port Moresby International School with 990 points and Gerehu Secondary School finished fourth with 842 points.
Director of Em Stret Holdings and organiser of the debate Vani Nades congratulated the participating schools and students.
“This event would not be possible without the help of my team of volunteers who have worked tirelessly behind the scene to make this happen,” Nandes said.
“We are grateful to our sponsors, National Gaming Control Board, Nasfund, National Broadcasting Corporation, Department of Treasury, Sterling Stationary, Kids World and Bank South Pacific.
