Security guards grab man with marijuana at Goroka Airport

Goroka-based Night Owl Security Services continues to pick up drug dealers at the town’s airport, the latest on Friday.
Managing-director Winchlee Oibotee said his guards, field commander Noel Kamoe and site supervisor Mathew Maima were keeping watch on passengers boarding a PNG Air afternoon flight when they saw someone behaving suspiciously.
Oibotee said they searched the man’s bag and found 3.2kg of neatly packed dried marijuana.
“My company has had 16 years of providing aviation security services,” Oibotee said.
“My guards have already confiscated large quantities of marijuana, illegal firearms, ammunition and many other illegal items at the Goroka Airport.
“On one occasion, we found a woman hiding a pistol under her baby carrier when trying to board the plane.”
Police have charged a man by the name of Masi Avuti Avuti for being in possession of marijuana.
Avuti is from Negivi village in Gimi, Okapa, Eastern Highlands.
