THE Port Moresby Rotary Club has donated K100,000 worth of medical equipment to St John Ambulance to support its emergency response to urban and rural communities in the country.
St John chief executive officer Matt Cannon said the funding was used to procure equipment that would be used on the frontline by ambulance officers in five provinces. “Rotary’s support will help to maintain 47 Stryker professional ambulance stretchers, which we use across Port Moresby, Lae, Kokopo, Kundiawa and Central,” he said.
“A patient monitor was purchased to support vital care at the Taurama Aquatic Centre.
“We thank the Port Moresby Rotary Club president, Ed Weggemans, and their members for the great work they do here in Port Moresby and across PNG.”
Weggemans said in response to the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) surge, the club in Port Moresby was looking for opportunities to assist health organisations in the fight against the Covid-19 in the nation’s capital.
