Stanley Hotel wins award

THE Stanley Hotel & Suites in Port Moresby has won the 2020 travellers’ choice award from Tripadvisor, general manager Geoff Haigh says.
Haigh said Tripadvisor, an American online travel company, assessed all hotels worldwide throughout the year, based on travellers’ reviews and their assessment of those reviews and then decide winners in various categories.
“We were listed in the top 10 per cent of hotels worldwide for this category,” he said.
He acknowledged Tripadvisor and the hotel’s guests over the past four years for the award.
“It is only because of them that we continue to exist,” he said.
“We look forward to many more years of providing exemplary service to our past guests, and hopefully many new guests in the future.
“Everyone at the hotel is proud of the award, and the fact that it was based on our guests’ feedback is even more rewarding.”
Haigh also acknowledged the hotel’s staff for the great work ethic and continued willingness to learn and improve, the managers for the never ending contribution to push for improvement every day, and staff training. “I would also like to thank the owners of the hotel, Stanley Investment Ltd PNG, for the foresight and bravery in committing to spend the money they have on building this hotel, and the confidence and support they have given me and the entire team over the last four years,” he said.
“Without investors there would not be a hotel.
“This has been a huge team effort and we are all humbled by this award, for basically doing our job every day.
“Finally, to those who believe that PNG can’t compete with the rest of the world, this is proof that we can, and that the right people with the focus to improve will always win, no matter where they are.”
The 18-storey hotel, situated in Waigani, has 429 luxury rooms, four restaurants, three bars, 24-hour room service, parking for 500 vehicles, direct access to Vision City Mega Mall, a deck with three pools, a 24-hour fitness centre, sauna and an executive lounge.
