POLICE have warned hired gunmen in Enga to stay out of tribal fights.
Enga PPC, acting Superintendent George Kakas said this after two hired gunmen assisting the Sikir and Talyul warring tribes were killed on Tuesday near Pilikambi Secondary School in Laiagam district.
Kakas said the warring tribes were creating more problems for themselves because they now had to pay compensation for the killing of the two men.
He urged the Sikir and Talyul tribesmen to stop fighting after he and Nelson Lea, the director of the provincial peace and good order committee, had visited them.
He said both tribes had agreed to lay down their arms.
But they started fighting again on Monday.
