Stench from leaking pipe upset betel nut traders

Highlands

BETEL nut traders at the Suave market in Goroka are complaining about the stench from a leaking pipe connected to a nearby businesshouse.
Spokesman Peter Kelaga said they had to put up with the
stench everyday while selling betel nuts.
“We thought the owner of the outlet would use his common sense to fix the piping system but it has taken too long to do so. It seems nothing will be done to remedy the situation,” he said.
Kelaga said they had requested the business owner to fix the leakage.
An employee said the “big boss” was away.
“I also approached the Goroka urban local level government to send their health inspectors to investigate,” he said.
An officer said they had not received any complaint but they would look into the situation at the market.
