MINISTER for Justice and Attorney-General Davis Steven has appointed Dorothy Mimiko-Kesenga as the acting Constitutional and Law Reform Commission secretary.
The appointment will be processed and formalised by the Personnel Management Department as is the case of all senior public service positions.
“It’s a matter for the Public Service Minister (Elias Kapavore) signing the papers anytime this week and that would be formalised,” he said.
“The CLRC commissioners endorsed her to be acting secretary.”
Personnel Management Secretary Taies Sansan said the department was processing the acting appointment which would be for three months while the position was advertised.
“The recommendation came from chairman of the CLRC Robert Atiyafa and was endorsed by the Minister for Justice and Attorney-General Davis Steven,” Sansan said.
Mimiko-Kesenga takes over the position vacated by Dr Eric Kwa who was appointed Department of Justice and Attorney-General secretary in August. She said she was “humbled and grateful for the opportunity”.
“For purposes of work to continue, it’s a good decision, although Dr Kwa has left a very big shoe for us to fill. I’m comforted by the fact that we have a very good chairman, commissioners and young vibrant lawyers, researchers and support staff at the commission. So it will be a team effort.”
