THE Stingers edged minor premiers Yokomo to win 6-5 in the Port Moresby men’s B-grade softball grand final on Saturday.
Trailing 4-0 in after the four inning, the Stingers knew they were in for a battle against the favourites. Butt the top of the fifth inning, the Stingers brought home two runners to trail 4-2.
Then Duamo Simon made it to the third base before making it home to close the gap further.
After the scores were levelled at the seventh inning, Yokomo, powered by former SP Hunters Israel Eliab, edged ahead to a 5-4 lead.
But the Stingers came back to level the scores before captain Sam Ropa came home with the winning run.
““This season was an exciting one, and I commend my teammates for the win,” Ropa said.
