PORT Moresby women’s softball should declare its minor premiers by the end of this weekend.

But it is a three-way battle between current leaders Stingerz, Gazelle and Bears as the competition closes off round two.

Bears have to beat Stingerz and then win their wash-out match against Chebu the following day to claim the top spot while Gazelle’s hopes depend on both teams having a woeful run.

However, Gazelle have to overcome Yokomo to put themselves in a favourable position.

Currently Stingerz lead the points table on 35 points, followed by Gazelle 34, Wantoks on bye tomorrow 33, Bears 32, United Sisters 32, Chebu 29, Wolves 28, Yokomo 27 and Admiralty 17.

Wantoks’ chances of making the top four is quite slim with reigning champions Sisters looking hot against Chebu.

Gazelle are favorites over Yokomo but the giant killers have the ability to spoil the party.

The three consecutive losses have made Stingerz vulnerable and Gazelle can repeat the dose unless the competition leaders regroup.
