Stop baseless posts on social media

Letters

AS a youth leader, I am very concerned with the level of unwarranted criticisms posted on social media against our national leaders.
The way people utilise social media like Facebook is getting out of hand. Instead of making constructive arguments with valid points, some people are hiding behind fake accounts and making very bad comments about our leaders.
Those who continue to mention names of politicians should know that to be a leader is not that easy as you may think.
Leadership comes with challenges and responsibilities and it is impossible for one leader to create miracles or satisfy everyone’s expectations.
I, for one, would like to urge those critics of Hagen member of parliament William Duma to refrain from continuous attacks on our leader on social media.
Duma is a respected leader in Parliament and he has contributed much to policy development and planning in this country from the Somare to the O’Neill regimes.
Duma has been very instrumental in the development of laws regarding the oil and gas sector when he was the Petroleum Minister.
I would like to congratulate Duma on his appointment as Trade and Commerce Minister last week in the Marape–Davis Government.
Such leaders like Duma has vast experiences in the business of government and is a key figure in national politics.
Continuous baseless attacks on social media against leaders like Duma is very bad and uncalled for.
The people of Jiwaka trust Duma’s leadership and that is why in every election, they elect one or two leaders from his United Resources Party.
Please refrain from tarnishing the reputation of our leaders.
Let us support and work with them to deliver services instead of criticising them.
Hagen electorate is benefiting much from impact projects such as rural electrification project and community development groups under the leadership of Duma.
If you are not a leader but just a mere keyboard warrior, you do not know what it is like to become a leader, so stop your nonsense.

Newman Wali,
Banz
