Stop politicking, address Covid-19

Letters

THE recent parliamentary debates by our MPs is commendable.
However, in my personal observations, most of the discussions and outbursts relating to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the recent parliament sittings were unproductive rebuttals of remarks and statements outlining the inefficient reactive measures taken two years ago when the Covid-19 was still far from our shores.
Most of the measures taken then were not completely carried out.
Compounded by the attitude problem and unwillingness of many of our ill-informed citizens to not get vaccinated, the virus presents us with a much worse health crisis than expected.
Our health sector is exhausted with overworked, poorly equipped and underpaid health workers, as according to reports from the severely affected provinces where Covid-19-related deaths are occurring on a daily basis.
Some even reported that semi-educated nursing students from a known nursing college in the Highlands were being engaged in frontline duties to cater for the shortage of experienced health workers who were sadly affected by the more deadly Delta variant of the Covid-19.
In light of all these, can our good leaders please stop their politicking and start discussing seriously to devise vaccination roll out programmes and awareness mechanisms to address the pandemic in the country?
They should go right down to the rural ward levels where majority of our illiterate citizens are, as this will achieve herd immunity  where more than 80 per cent of our population is vaccinated.
Since vaccination is the only thing that will prevent one from being infected, everyone should be get vaccinated.
Hats off to those few concerned leaders thinking along this line.
We do not have time for politics.
