TRULY inspirational and congratulations to you Michelle Auamoromoro.
Your story on page 16 of The National (Friday, April 17) really deserves mention in these trying times.
The nation and the world is focused on the Covid-19 pandemic and to read about your struggles and determination to achieve a journalism degree at the Divine Word University last month reminds us all of humanity’s perseverance.
From your Maipenairu village in Baimuru attending school in 2004 all the way to Divine Word University is what many kids dream of.
But some never fulfill their dream because of the lack of discipline, determination and family support.
Your struggles in being kicked out of residences, food shortages, helping your parents to fish and sell to sustain yourselves is truly a credit unto you, your parents and the wantoks and friends who extended their hands to achieve that degree.
Too many people in this world use excuses and blame other people for the position they are in right now. But they don’t look at the strengths that lie within themselves to improve their lives.
To pack goods at a checkout counter at Vision City at the tender age of 14 and earn a K300 fortnightly wage speaks volumes of your drive to succeed.
Your positivity in being proud despite graduating in absentia due to financial constraints speaks volume of your character.
Well done Michelle, you can smile for the rest of your life because you did it, you really did.
In life we fall many times but it’s not the fall that matters, it’s about getting up time and time again to achieve our goals.
May God bless you as you embark on the next chapter of your life.
