Stuck in Europe, waiting to get home

Letters

IF Prime Minister James Marape follows through on his word to allow more international flights into Port Moresby starting next month, I shall be his fan for life.
I am not sure how many tourists will take advantage of the relaxation of restrictions to entry, but I will welcome it.
I have been trying to get back to work in Port Moresby since late March, and I am still no closer to getting flights.
Travel restrictions from Europe to the Far East have been eased, but the choke point remains Brisbane, the controller-designated port of entry.
The Australian authorities have limited the numbers of international passengers travelling to 500 a week but the flights can get cancelled even if after bookings.
I can fly to Singapore from Europe every day of the week, but they do not allow transfers in Changi to PX flights.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore is dragging its feet in approving airlines’ transfer plans at Changi.
Despite that, the ‘no transfer’ rule appears to be breached by those who have high-level connections.
They can get on the PX flights, but I don’t have those connections therefore I am out of options.
One rule for them, it seems, one rule for little old me.
I am still stuck in Europe.
Can the Government appeal directly to the Singapore authorities to grant speedy approval to the national carrier, Air Niugini, so that all transiting passengers requiring it, can transfer without hindrance at Changi to PX flights?
I need to get home and back to work.
