Education

A CATHOLIC Institution in Port Moresby held a month-long vocation programme for students to guide them in listening to God’s calling and making right choices in their lives.
The programme saw missionaries sharing to the students of Don Bosco Institute of Technology testimonies on how they inclined to God’s calling and acted upon it for his glory to manifest.
“Life is a precious gift, give it as a gift,” Sr Carmencita Rodriguez said.
“A vocation is a call from God. It is up to us to respond freely to what God wants us to do as we strive to manifest His glory was the message right throughout the programme.”
They were steered to discern God’s call to consecrated life, married life or single life.
Fr Ariel Macatangay, SDB, told the students three ways of discerning: “Be open to what God wants us to be, be ready to humbly accept God’s will for you and listen to His voice as he speaks in the silence of your heart.”
The Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate (MSI) together with the Salesians of Don Bosco and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians set up a kiosk to disseminate information about religious life.
They shared life stories and screened videos of inspiring stories.
Fr Louie Castañeda shared the basic needs in the societies that is affirmation, love and belongingness for a life of peace.
“The highest of these needs is self-actualization, the ultimate purpose of being a full person. It does not rest on possessions but on a fulfilled life resting in God.”
