A SECONDARY School in East Sepik lost one of its semi-permanent boys’ dormitories in a fire on Wednesday.
Kubalia Secondary School principal John Sikawa said on Friday that students burnt down the dormitory for reasons yet to be confirmed.
The dormitory accommodated more than 30 male students in grade 9 and grade 10.
The school is one of the biggest in the district, enrolling students from Yangoru Saussia and neighbouring districts.
Sikawa said classes were disrupted last week after the incident.
East Sepik acting education manager Richard Kombo said parents were not disciplining their children and thereby failing to teach them good behaviour.
“If students, parents and citizens have any queries with the school’s administration then there are procedures and processes to follow,” he said.
He said the matter should now be handled by police as it was a law and order problem.
“I have summoned the Kubalia Secondary School principal to give a full report on last Wednesday’s incident,” Kombo said.
East Sepik Police Commander Superintendent Robert Gesa said on Friday that he had not been briefed about the fire.
