HELPING people in need is an everyday thing, says the principal of a Christian school.
Lae Christian Academy (LCA) principal Anna Mand said giving and helping people in need should be taught at schools so that children learn to help others in need.
Mand, her deputy Elizabeth Enna, layman Rev Michael Mann and students on Friday donated 46 cartons of bottled water and a bale and eight cartons of clothes to the Lae earthquake relief appeal.
Mand said that as a Christian school they taught their pupils to help people in need.
“Our school’s motto is: Sharing is caring,” Mand said.
“Our students, as individuals and collectively, have assisted many people in the past.
“But for this donation, we had told our 400 students to bring K2 each to donate. We raised K1240 and used the money to buy the water.”
Mand said the students also donated clothes.
Lae earthquake relief appeal spokesperson and ward two councillor Carol Yawing thanked the students for their support.
She said the gift would go a long way in assisting earthquake victims.
