TWENTY-Four students from Papua New Guinea are going through intensive training in Australia to set up agribusinesses back in the country.
The students, from all over the country, were sponsored by the Australian government through its Australian Awards Scholarships programme.
The programme started on Feb 15 and ends on March 31. Course facilitator, Kathy Sims, of Rural Biz Training, which is running training in partnership with University of New England in New South Wales, said last Friday that agribusiness skills students were very relevant to rural PNG settings and it would help a lot of people.
She said that she was happy to work with the students, adding that this group was the best compared to previous years.
Sims said that it was a great experience for the students to learn new skills in Australia and apply to their communities when they returned.
