GRADE Three students at a primary school in Port Moresby held a mini festival to raise funds to buy things they need in the classroom.
Head of grade Jolleth Liosi told The National the aim was to end Term Two by displaying some of the things they had been learning.
“That’s why they (Grade Three teachers) decided to put on a show,” he said.
“We have a mixture of performances and the selling of items. The day will be completed with little games after the presentation.”
The highlights of the day include reading, presentation of items and dances, selling of food, beverages and craftwork and demonstration of class mottos and goals.
Liosi said teachers were given K100 each to buy items to sell while students sold their craft.
“The initial amount will come to the grade section again. But the profit will go back to their classrooms to buy anything they want in their class.”
She said because money was restricted, teachers came up with the idea to raise funds to look after their classes’ needs.
