TRANSPORT Minister William Samb says feasibility studies are complete on the wharves in Manus, Gulf and East and West Sepik.
“My department is preparing the documentations for projects for these wharves for Manus, Kikori, Wewak and Vanimo to be submitted to the National Executive Council for endorsement so that we can call for tenders for the projects,” he said.
Nuku MP Joseph Sungi asked Samb if there was a plan to develop the Aitape wharf in West Sepik.
“Contracts have been awarded to conduct technical and financial studies for the Wewak (East Sepik) and Vanimo (West Sepik) wharves,” Samb said.
“There is a lot of economic activities in these provinces.
“That is why we have undertaken studies to ensure that economic activities in agriculture, forestry, fishing and mining can be well supported by these important sea ports.”
