CAN the National Government and the Autonomous Bougainville Government intervene by subsidising the cost of travel?
It costs K1,680 for a passenger to travel to Buka one way.
For students with valid ID, it costs K1,300 for one way and K1,300 one way for specials.
What can be done to lower this high cost?
The cost is too much for people travelling to and from Bougainville.
Recently, South Bougainville MP was reported to have sponsored a soccer club competition under his name for K400,000.
