THE Port Moresby Suburban rugby league resumes its competition this weekend at Kone Tigers Oval after a two-week break.
The league’s deputy chairman James Paul said his committee had decided to have a break with their representative sides being involved in the Southern Zone trials earlier this month.
“One week was given off before the zone trials because the selected players were involved in training in preparation for the trials and the second week was after the trial for the players to rest and get over injuries,” Paul said.
He said Suburban league was still on schedule to finish on time.
“We’re coming closer to to the end of our regular season and we’re still on schedule even though we’ve taken two weeks off becuase we already took into account the rep period.”
“This weekend is round 16. We’ve got two more rounds before the finals and we finish late next month.”
Paul added that the final game of their Suburb of Origin series would be next Wednesday.
“We’ll give prize money for series winners and consolation prizes for the best players and for the runners-up.”
