THE Port Moresby Suburban Rugby League competition axed three teams for this season which starts on March 31 at Kone Tigers Oval, Waigani.
League chairman Bosky Koke said all A grade clubs were required to pay a K800 club affiliation fee before March 30 to be eligible to play.
He said all men’s Under-20 affiliation fees had been merged with the first grade fee.
“The women’s teams are will pay an affiliation fee of K500 and their due date set is in the fourth week of the competition,” he said.
Koke said all teams were asked to submit their completed summary sheets for players and officials before the first round kicks off.
He said these papers containing the information on players and officials would be forwarded to the PNG Rugby Football League office.
“The registration fee for the players is only K50 and May 31will be the final day as sanctioned by PNGRFL,” Koke said.
He said all players whose names were written in the summary sheet needed to register before May.
He said it was the league’s policy that all clubs paid their registration fees before the opening round.
Koke said since he needed a minimum of 16 teams to balance the draws for this year, he still had three slots to fill.
He said there were certain bids requirements the new clubs had to fulfil.
“It does not mean that the three teams who were axed are forgotten, the door is still open for the three clubs to return if they could secure sponsorship,” Koke said.
