Sufficient proof found to commit robbery suspect

A COMMITTAL Court magistrate has told a man charged with two counts of armed robbery in Manus to prepare his Section 96 statement.
Committal Court Magistrate Danny Wakikura delivered a ruling in Kelly Kuwoh’s case on Tuesday based on evidence contained in the police files.
“Having gone through all the evidence on both charges, I note that there is enough evidence to have you committed,” Magistrate Wakikura said.
“You have been identified in one of these charges; there is other circumstantial evidence that links you to the crimes.”
He said whether there was enough evidence to find him guilty and convicted was a matter for trial in the National Court.
Magistrate Wakikura said Kuwoh was expected to make a statement in the committal court.
He said they would adjourn to give Kuwoh time to prepare his statement.
He said the lawyer taking carriage of the matter would help him prepare and file his statement.
Magistrate Wakikura adjourned the matter to Nov 5 for mention.
He said Kuwoh would be remanded until he made a bail application which was a matter he had to take up at the National Court.
