THIRTEEN Manam Resettlement Authority staff members received certificates after attending a week-long training on systems in the public service in Madang recently.
The training was on Public Service Management Act, Public Finance Management Act, and the 23 public service general orders.
Authority chief executive officer Richard Baia said they would demonstrate an understanding of Papua New Guinea government systems at national, provincial and local level in the public service, and show commitment in their roles.
“Many authority staff members have private sector backgrounds and attending such course to know public service general orders as a guide was important to induct new officers into the public service,” Baia said.
“We appreciate the Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance for conducting the courses to equip staff members with knowledge on processes and procedures in dispensing their duties a as public servants.”
Chief executive officer Michael Barobe said his institute was prepared to provide training for public servants in Madang whenever the province was ready.
He said if all public servants who swore to serve in the public service, followed the public service and finance management acts as well as the public service general orders, corruption in government systems could be addressed.
