Sugu valley

Letters

AS someone from Kagua/ Erave, especially Sugu valley, it is a lesson to be learned and not to be repeated.
Just from a change of a K2 after a loose cigarette was purchased with a K10 note, an argument arose between the seller and a drunkard which costs more than 40 lives, food gardens and homes worth thousands destroyed.
The days which people respect village leaders and kids respect parents is becoming a thing of the past especially in that part of the electorate.
Drug and alcohol addicts have taken control.
During the three-month period of barbaric killing, the area (Sugu Valley) was declared “no go zone” that stemmed from the actions of drunkards.
They never bother about the consequences faced by woman and children.
To make it worse, even a voice has never been heard from the educated sons and daughters of Sugu Valley or the business man and woman, even the 25-30 candidates who usually contest for the Kagua/Erave electorate seat. All gone.
I acknowledge Maita Maina Yawi for his tireless effort of organising peace negotiations, support for food, cash and kind for both parties from day one up until a date for peace arrangements being organised.
