BISHOP Brothers have come to the T20 Legend’s bash event scheduled for this weekend in Port Moresby by sponsoring the Bishop Brothers Super 8 celebrity match to complement the main act.
Cricket PNG general manager Bill Leane announced yesterday two teams to compete in the Super 8 match at Amini Park on Sunday as the curtain raiser for the Legend’s final.
Both teams, Bishop Bros Yellow and Green are stacked with a mixture of sporting talent, both male and female athletes, from other sporting codes as well as representatives from the media.
Former Australian spinner Greg Matthews will captain team Green while PNG Barramundis skipper Rarua Dikana heads the Yellow team.
The teams will engage in an eight-a-side, six over per side cricket “slugfest” to see who can hit the most runs. It would be a great spectacle Leane said.
Team Green: Api Kassman (Sports Scene), Andrew Cooper (Komatsu Sports), Steve Dawanincura (Sports Scene), Nickson Kolo (rugby league), Dika Toua (weight lifting), Peter Pusal (The National), Mona Lisa Leka (netball) and Debbie Kaore (amateur boxing). Team Yellow: Greg Matthews, Peter Moide (cricket), Andrew Lepani (soccer), Steve Mase (FM100), Nadia Bais (softball), Ura Rigana (cricket), Jonathan Kassman (canoeing), Rickson Yamo (pro boxing), Billy Rapilla (rugby union), Patrick Patu (FM100) and Leslie Omaro (Post Courier).
The Bishop Brothers Celebrity Match starts at 1.10pm as a lead-up to the Pacific MMI Insurance and Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited don’t drink and drive campaign Legends T20 final which will feature: Andrew Symonds, Damien Martyn, Greg Matthews, Michael Kasprowicz, Greg Blewett, Jimmy Maher and  our PNG Cricket’s national coaching director  Andy Bichel.
Entry is free and the final will be broadcasted on EMTV from 2pm to see the highlights of the Bishop Brothers Celebrity match before watching the main game from 2.20pm.
