Suspect in Kaugere killing remanded

THE suspect who allegedly killed a man at a Kaugere settlement roadside market last Saturday was remanded yesterday by Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Tracy Ganaii.
Ganaii arraigned Moses Kepo, 40, of Skyagapomanda village in Wapenamanda, Enga, on the charge of wilful murder and adjourned his case to Feb 25 for further mention.
Kepo was alleged to have murdered Biou Pasa from Western on Jan 18 at about 2pm when he stopped to buy a cigarette on his way home.
He only paid K1 for the cigarette where an argument aroused and three women demanded that he pay another 20 toea for the cigarette but Pasa walked off and the women jokingly called out “kilim em” (kill him).
Kepo, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, stepped out of a canteen with a bush knife and asked the women what the commotion was about.
The women then told him that Pasa refused to pay another 20t for the cigarette.
He then asked the women what they wanted him to do and they jokingly responded “kilim em”.
Kepo ran after Pasa and slashed him on the neck, almost severing his head from his body.
The matter was reported and investigated by Boroko police and Kepo was formally arrested and charged
