A MOTHER of four has been fined K200 for attacking a woman who told her that they were sharing the same “husband”.
Naomi Sam, from Mul-Baiyer in Western Highlands, admitted hitting Julie Pok on the head with a stone on Dec 31 in Mt Hagen.
She told the court that Pok had provoked her by saying that her husband was also her husband.
Pok was treated for three cuts on her head.
Senior provincial magistrate Betty Jacob told Sam that even though she was provoked, what she did was against the law.
“Taking law into your own hands is not the right way of solving a problem,” she said.
“You should take the matter to court and resolve it peacefully.”
She told Sam that if she knew that Pok was going around with her husband, she should have summoned them to court “for adultery”. The court converted Sam’s K200 police bail into a court fine and released her with a warning not to repeat the offence.
Meanwhile, in another court case, Rex Ore from Mendi in Southern Highlands denied punching a man on Dec 7 in Mount Hagen.
The case was adjourned to Feb 14.
