Suspect in sorcery case arrested

POLICE in Chimbu have arrested a man for his alleged involvement in a sorcery-accusation related killing of a couple earlier this year. Provincial police commander Horim Piamia said the incident took place at Auna village in Kundiawa and police made the first arrest last week. He said the suspect and others were allegedly involved in the killing of the couple and buried the bodies.Piamia said police went to the area and recovered remains of the couple. He said sorcery-accusation related killings in Chimbu were increasing and police needed the support of community and provincial leaders to deal with it. Piamia said people were uncooperative with regards to sorcery-accusation related killings thus impacting the police’s ability to identify and arrest suspects.
