A SUSPECT in a triple murder case in Madang was arrested yesterday, according to provincial police commander acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang.
Rubiang said the 23-year-old, from Sumkar, was shot in his left leg while trying to escape from police at Kubugam. He said the alleged prime suspect was among three others who allegedly committed double murders at Talidig on Christmas Eve.
“The suspect was also (allegedly) responsible for a murder case at Kubugam last year which led to the closing down of the Kubugam market,” he said.
“Following the double murder at Talidig, the suspect escaped to Karkar Island.
“My men went after him and arrested him on the island.
“He was brought to Kubugam (mainland) and tried to escape from police again and was shot in his left leg.
“He is now at the Modilon Hospital.”
Rubiang thanked his men and all those involved in handing over the suspect.
