Suspect questioned over murder

POLICE in Manus are questioning a suspect over the murder of a 34-year-old at Levei village in the Bisikani/Soperibeu local level government area a week ago.
Manus police commander Chief Insp David Yapu said the victim was identified as Justin Pwek, who was confronted by the suspect at around 6.30pm last Friday.
He said a commotion took place and the suspect allegedly took out a small knife and stabbed Pwek on his upper left arm, causing a serious wound which bled heavily.
Chief Insp Yapu said a health worker attended to Pwek, but he died due to loss of blood.
He said it was claimed the suspect was having an affair with Pwek’s wife and the matter was before the village court.Chief Insp Yapu Yapu said he spoke to Pwek’s family not to take the law intotheir hands, but allow police to deal with the matter.
