FIVE suspects involved in the robbery of the City Pharmacy supermarket in Madang have been arrested by police.
Provincial police commander Acting Supt Manzu Rubiang said they were identified from a closed circuit television (CCTV) footage provided by the staff of the supermarket.
People helped police in identifying the suspects and arrested them at the DCA settlement. Some stolen properties were recovered.
The men allegedly robbed the supermarket on Nov 2 of items valued at more than K10,000. They took K6,000 in cash.
Rubiang said the men had travelled by boat to the scene and left on the same boat with the items.
“I want the staff of City Pharmacy and other witnesses to come forward and give witness statements for the police to formally charge them.
“As the festive season approaches, I am calling on the people of Madang to celebrate peacefully with the money that they earn from their hard work.”
Rubiang said in another incident, a man was killed after an argument with his friends at Bilau Maus Rot last week.
The deceased was identified as Greng Kalang from Raicoast, Madang.
