More than 300 cartons of counterfeit So Klin detergent have been destroyed in Lae.
The counterfeit detergent, on four pallets, were disposed of on Wednesday at Malahang Industrial Centre by a Super Value Stores team.
According to the SVS team, the counterfeit detergent was seized by Customs on arrival in the country.
It was imported by an Asian company in Mt Hagen and not declared with other goods in a container that arrived at Lae Port last year. The detergent was stored in Swift Agency yard at Malahang and destroyed on Wednesday.
SVS is the sole distributor of
So Klin detergent in the country.
The genuine detergent is made by a company called PT Sayap Mas Utama, of Jakarta, Indonesia.
The genuine product contains white powder with active ingredients consisting of blue, pink and purple particles.
It comes in 380g and 30g packets,
SVS regional sales manager Joni Lim told The National SVS did not sell the 320g and 35g packets of
So Klin detergent seized at the port.
“We import from Indonesia and the So Klin detergent had been in the country for a very long time,” he said.
The SVS team thanked Customs Swift Agency for their help.
“These (Customs) are the people that keep our country safe from any counterfeit product that is being imported,” Lim said.
