THE synod hall for the 32nd Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG (ELCPNG) synod in Boana, Morobe this month is nearing completion and is scheduled to be commissioned on Sunday.
ELCPNG Boana district president, Pastor Sokeke Tawaman said they had 18 parishes who participated and contributed in the preparation of the synod.
He said all the preparations were going well and would be completed in time.
“The synod hall will be completed soon in time for the commissioning on Jan 5, and we are looking at connecting water and lights as everything has already been completed,” Tawaman said.
“We’ve been supported by the Nawaeb district development authority (DDA), Morobe government and our own contributions and everything is going on well in terms of preparation. The synod hall is huge and after the synod, we’ll use the hall for other purposes like conferences, in-service training and other activities with NGOs, churches and government departments which will also help generate an income for us.
“We’ve also built a guest house for the synod and it will also help generate an income for the district.” Tawaman said each parish has been assigned to take care of each district of ELCPNG who would attend the synod in terms of housing, food and other needs
They have been told to raise K20,000 each which they did to help them look after the districts they were assigned.
He said all money used by each parish to look after their assigned districts would be accounted.
