TABUBIL Rugby Football League received K10,000 from local social club Gazebo Club last Friday.
Gazebo Club president Akolo Kotange told TRFL executives that they were proud to sponsor the league as it promoted junior development and them off illegal activities.
“Rugby league is a sport that brings the community together and we are seeing families coming back to Tabubil and games,” Kotange said.
“We’re happy the sport is creating an avenue for youths, families and employees unite and we are happy to be associated with that.”
Kotange said the club was also looking to support other codes such as soccer, darts and snooker.
The majority of its members are from nearby mine villages of Bultem, Finalbin, Wangbin, Migalsim and the town.
The money would be used to purchase trophies and medallions for the finals as well as organising a match between Tabubil Diggers and Kiunga Catfish on Sept 15 in Tabubil.
