IJIVITARI MP Richard Masere wants the people of Tufi to take ownership of the Tufi Tapa Tattoo Cultural Festival (TTTCF).
Masere, who addressed the festival on Saturday upon arriving in Tufi, said the people needed to take on the task of hosting come every November.
“For me to be here today, especially after the last 24 hours of events that took place on the floor of parliament, is important,” he said.
“There are camps being formed and I was asked to stay in camp but I couldn’t miss the Tufi Tapa Tattoo Cultural Festival.
“The TTTCF cannot be a success unless there is support from the district and from sponsors.”
Masere expressed disappointment at the lack of commitment by people towards the cultural show.
“Every time we host the show, you don’t want to take ownership, you want to be paid for your own show.
“This is your culture, it’s your tradition, we are trying to promote and expose it to the world. I want to challenge our Tufi people, why don’t you take ownership?”
Masere urged the people to take pride in their culture and raise the standard.
“We want our friends from all around the world to know where Tufi is. We want to make Tufi famous for its culture and tradition.”
