TWO more MPs flew to West Sepik yesterday to join the Opposition camp in Vanimo, Opposition leader Belden Namah says.
“Ijivitari MP Richard Masere, and Henganofi MP Robert Atiyafa arrived in Vanimo yesterday on a chartered flight from Port Moresby,”he said.
“However, I will not disclose any more numbers as it is top secret now.”
Although Namah did not disclose the total number of MPs at the Medallion Hotel, an Air Niugini, flight manifest list had 43 MPs on a charter flight to Vanimo on Saturday.
And with the inclusion of the two latest MPs and a possibility that Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti flew in to Vanimo on Sunday on a commercial flight, it is believed that 46 MPs are now at the Medallion Hotel.

  • A question which responsible journalists anywhere else in the world would have asked – who paid for the charter flight? But, I suppose the likelihood of us seeing responsible journalists in PNG is as unlikely as the advent of responsible politicians.

  • The move of MP to the opposition side is not for the Country but for themselves. It’s a quivering transferal, it is undeniably era for Mother Nature to discrete moral from immoral, it is a glamorous stint for the million’s rubbernecks of Papua New Guinean citizens to categorize who is for the country and who is for himself. I believe this observation is not an ordinary observation by the citizens but the observation that would resolve or decide in 2022 elections.

  • Enoch I concur with you. BN is at it again to forcefully remove a legitimate government as he did with Sir Somare. This time, it will not happen. We have 50 plus MPs who stood for rule of law, good governance and taking control of our resources and getting maximum benefit out of it. Duma has pulled out and has joined the government, and I won’t be surprised there will be more exodus in the coming days.

  • MP’s are just puppets to big money players. There’s a lot of big money players behind PNG politics. RH, Constantinou Group are the usual suspects. New money players from the Chinese government and companies are also entering the game of politics because of the unfavorable business climate Marape has created for their interest and influence. Australia was reluctant and will lose the fight to China. PNG politics is dirty and if Australia is to remain dominate in PNG politics it must also play dirty or lose to China. PNG politicians are all about how much they can make quickly from these players. By the way, I know RH owns The National.

  • Hon. Atiyafa, you are a man of respect and honor. The the people of EHP in general have high respect for you. We urge you to leave the Vanimo camp and join the Government. You are in a wrong camp with people with ulterior motives, people who don’t follow the rule of law, corrupt leaders that we know have knowingly stolen from Papua New Guineans which is us the Henganofi people to enriched themselves. Be like your young EHP governor, young Mining Minister and young Defence minister who are strong minded and build a solid team to fight corruption, negotiate a better deal for our mineral resources with Marape government. We are praying for you.

  • Duma is a real face of corruption and should be moved to the opposition bench immediately with his like minded corrupt regime, spear headed by another power hungry and testy vampaire of Namah.
