A TAXI driver in Kokopo, East New Britain, was allegedly murdered at Butuwin on Friday night.
A person who arrived at the murder scene soon afterwards but declined to be named said the killing occurred at Butuwin area where the Southern Cross tank was located between 7pm and 8pm.
People living in the Butuwin area heard the sound of a gun and ran to the scene where they found the taxi driver covered in blood, the person said.
“It was dark and we couldn’t see well but I think they shot him on the head and back,” the person said.
The ENB police commander could not be contacted for comment.
Police arrived at the murder scene but they are yet to compile a report on the incident.
