Teacher plans to conduct IT courses

Primary school teacher John Wesley Itu will be conducting an information technology in-service course on ‘assessment’ from Jan 14-18 in Arawa, Bougainville.
The course will equip teachers with the basic skills of IT assessment to automatically calculate students’ assessments.
This course is vital to all teachers who lack basic IT skills or those who need further improvement in assessing students using MS Office.
“I’m looking at all teachers because assessment is what all teachers do,” Itu said.
“My priority will be the assessment coordinators from respective schools.
“The IT skills that will be gained from this course will help the teachers assess the students effectively, efficiently and precisely.
“It will give the teachers an advantage to relive workload in their assessments, save time and effort and get expected results in a few seconds.
“The skills will help the teachers in the long run and they won’t need to attend any IT institutions to learn these basics.”
The course fee is K200.
It is a personal initiative of Itu, who saw the need for quality education on Bougainville, with IT assessment being one area that needed to be taken on board.
