Teachers get access to pay slips

TEACHERS will not have to wait for months to get their pay slips following the official opening of an online pay slip system in Port Moresby on Thursday.
Education Minister Joseph Yopyyopy said the web-based pay slip application “MyPayslip” would enable teachers and public servants in the education sector direct access to their pay slips.
He said it was important for them to register, after which they could view, download and print their pay slips using their correct and verified credentials.
Yopyyopy said it was costly and time consuming for teachers to travel from their schools to the provincial education office or even the head office in Port Moresby to verify deductions and other discrepancies with their pay.
“The traditional way of distributing printed pay slips which is expensive and takes a long time to reach the teachers or officers will be a thing of the past,” he said.
Yopyyopy said the application could be accessed on computers and smart phones as long as there is access to the internet.
“This system is efficient and easily accessible,” he said.
“I am really pleased that our teachers and public servants in the education sector will now have access to their pay slips at any time and wherever they are.”
Yopyyopy said the web-based application was completely independent from the Department of Education and Finance and had a strict security system.
“It keeps intruders out and minimises fraud and foul play related to teachers and public servants pay advices,” he said.
It can be accessed by using a universal resource locator (URL) on the education website that has been created (payslip.education.gov.pg).
Yopyyopy thanked the Education Department and the Teaching Service Commission for driving the change in consultation with the department’s information communication technology division, payroll division, Department of Finance and other stakeholders including Digitec PNG, for the online system.
He said the introduction of the application was developed in line with National Education plan 2015-2019, the medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) 3 and the Alotau Accord 2 to use technology to improve service delivery.
