A  CHINESE couple was caught watching a pornography video in a shop by a joint operation team last Friday at the Goldie River army barracks outside Port Moresby.

They have been charged with possession of pornographic material and are expected to appear in the Boroko District Court today.

The special operation was conducted by the PNG Customs, police organised crime units and the Defence Force military police.

Organised crimes detective Snr Sgt John Kuno said the officers raided XYZ Trading Ltd and found Boa Xianming, 55 (male) and Yuang Yuzhen, 50 (female) from Shanghai, China, in the shop.

“As soon as Yuzhen saw officers entering the canteen, she quickly switched off the TV and the DVD player,” Kuno said.

He said Yuzhen then removed the disk and broke it in front of the joint operation team.

“The disk was picked up by the officers and it was a pornography disk,” Kuno said.

He said the officers had picked up another disk in the shop containing hardcore sex scenes.

Kuno added the officers had confiscated pirated and contraband CDs and DVDs packed in a box.

He said the Chinese were arrested and taken to 6-Mile police station where they were charged for having the pornography DVDs.

Kuno said Xianming was also charged for breaching the terms and conditions of his work permit.

He added that Xianming was supposed to be working in a restaurant in Port Moresby.

“But, he left without prior arrangements from the Department of Labour and now works with XYZ Trading Ltd.”

Kuno said Yuzhen was released on a K300 bail while Xianming was detained at the Boroko police station’s cell. They were expected to appear in court today.

He said the joint operation was conducted following suspicions over the movements of Chinese visitors to the XYZ Trading Ltd’s shop at the Goldie barracks.
