Team Central confirmed a 25-man kickboxing squad after their May 19-21 tournament at Iarowari Secondary School.
Trainer Max Kanea said the selected athletes would fight each other this week to maintain fitness.
“From these fights, we will select the best in each division to make up the Team Central kickboxing team for the seventh PNG Games in Kimbe, West New Britain.
Kanea said Iarowari secondary principal Andrew Moava had allowed them to use the school hall to run the tournament again.
“Some of the fighters who will take part in the tournament are inexperienced and yet to learn new techniques and skills,” Kanea said.
“However, being the experienced fighter, I will be very selective to select the best fighters who will make Team Central in kickboxing.
“I will have to select fighters who will be strong and disciplined.”
