MADANG club Tusbab Laidamon are eager to improve their position on the Northern Conference ladder when the Women’s National Soccer League resumes next month.
Tusbab coach Rachel Wadunah told The National yesterday that she was pleased with their fifth spot but the team would concentrate on improving their fitness ahead of the Jan 9 restart.
“I’m content with our placing for now,” she said.
“I’m confident that my players will improve, so that we can get to where we want to be when the league resumes after the Christmas break.
“The players need to be fit to control the rest of their matches this season, so this is why we’ll be using the break to work on our fitness.
“We’ve made sure to keep training since our last game.
“I’d like to get our combinations right and finish in the top-two for the finals — that’s probably our biggest goal of the season.
“For now, we plan to train.
“We took some time off for Christmas and Boxing Day but we’re now back at training.”
Wadunah said she was counting on Papua New Guinea international Nicolette Ageva to lead the side as they prepare to face Morobe Tulip in their next match.
“She is the go-to player in our team,” she said.
“It’s important that we play our roles and make sure that we are all on the same page in every match.
“We need to look at ourselves and connect, so that we can find our combinations easily.”
