Teams fight to contain yaws in Western

EMERGENCY medical teams in Western are doing all they can to contain the outbreak of yaws and help those that were affected by the February earthquake, says Emergency Controller Dr Bill Hamblin.
He told The National that a ship containing water tanks had been shipped to the province and another would be shipped to Gulf soon.
Hamblin said the province was badly hit by the earthquake and the recent yaws outbreak, which was now under control, was a sad scenario for the province.
“We are doing fine treating yaws and everything is under control,” he said.
“People were in fear in the first place but due to awareness carried out by the medical team, people are now working closely with the team.”
