TEAMS taking part in the Governor’s Cup rugby league challenge are warned to play by the rules or face life ban.
Port Moresby Suburban Sports Association president Billy Aki issued the warning after re-admitting 7-Mile Jets into the fold by allowing them to register and play.
“The Jets players were thrown out of the competition for the past five years, and they were re-admitted into the challenge on condition they behave,” he said.
He said the similar warnings were directed to participating teams.
Aki said Morata off-season rugby league had been tasked to coordinate the challenge for the next three days.
The game will start today at Kone Tigers Oval and Hohola Ipi Park Oval.
He also confirmed that there were 24 teams participating (12 in the men’s and 12 women’s divisions).
The men’s teams have been slotted into four pools.
Pool A comprise Bomana Two, 9-Mile, Kone One, Bomai Yal, Morata Swans, Baaz Nokondi One.
Pool B has 9-Mile Two, Boroko Pythons, Gerehu United, 5-Mile Rangers, Southern Blacks and 7-Mile Jets.
Pool C includes Kia Warriors, Unitech Spartanz, Henz Brothers, 5-Mile United, 9-Mile One, Diwai Brothers while Bomana One, Baaz Nokondi Two, Morata Bullets, Hohola, Toks Mix Dogs and Erima are in Pool D.
Seven teams would be competing in the women’s division but there are still spots for five more teams.
Any women’s teams intending to participate should approach organisers Yanga or Eki Ene at the Kone Tigers Oval to register.
Aki also commended the Bomana off-season league officials for paying their clubs’ fees
for participation in the rugby league challenge.
