DANIEL Taylor, the 19-year-old product of the Port Moresby school soccer, made his debut in the Telikom National Soccer League for Hekari United in their 6-0 win over Welgris Highlanders in Lae last Saturday.
Taylor came off the bench, taking the field in the second half as the champions took total control.
Taylor, who is a member of the national Under-19 soccer team, played on the left flank and was described by Hekari coach Jerry Allen as a good player who was plucked from the Port Moresby school soccer programme to be part of the champion team outfit this season.
“He is a very good player and this is a big opportunity for him,” Allen said.
Taylor follows in the footsteps of former Besta United player, Nigel Dabinyaba, who progressed into Gigira Laitepo Morobe as a teenager before Hekari took him into their fold.
Dabinyaba has grown confident and matured after being with Hekari and playing alongside  some of the best soccer talents in the country and from the Pacific Island nations of Solomon Islands and Fiji.
